Specifically, housing that has a redemptive purpose in bettering the human condition. Foster & Associates has worked with 104 organizations to obtain over $67 million in grant awards, obtaining over 75% of its awards on the first submittal of a proposal and over 90% of all resubmitted proposals.
Today, Foster & Associates fields four consultants, landing over $17,000,000 per year in grant awards. Foster & Associates is first and foremost a consulting firm, not a grant writing firm. It does write grants, but only after rigorously molding and scoping a project into one which a financial institution will invest in. Eighty percent of its associates have advanced college degrees and have held executive management positions. Foster & Associates brings a fully managed, non-local funding source to its clients. Some of the largest rescue missions in the country, with internal grant writing staffs, such as Star of Hope (Houston), Union Rescue Mission (Los Angeles), and Union Gospel Mission (Seattle) engage Foster & Associates to manage this unique funding source.

Foster & Associates got its start in the grant consulting world in the fall of 2003 when Darryl Bartlett, the Executive Director of the Holland Rescue Mission asked Kevin Foster if he would prepare a grant application for the mission. After some encouragement from Darryl, Kevin reluctantly agreed. Two months later the Holland Rescue Mission was awarded $482,000. Not a bad first attempt some would say. Then the phone started ringing, it was Ken Streeter from the City Rescue Mission of Saginaw. Guess what? Ken wanted $482,000. Four months later his desire became a reality when a $500,000 grant was awarded.
Since then the phone has continued to ring and Foster & Associates has grown from a side job for Kevin into a full fledged consulting firm for the development of low-income housing.
